Masters exhibited
his unusual abilities as a child, after watching a rodeo cowboy perform
rope tricks on television the he was able to duplicate the actions
perfectly. He would later use his talent to become a star high-school quarterback after watching only one professional football game. In his quest to be the best, Masters became one of the top agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. While on a mission for the counter terrorism agency, Masters and his fellow agent and wife, Mercedes, were sent to Bolivia to foil a Nazi plot to create a race of humans with the minds and memories of Adolph Hitler. The chief Nazi scientist revealed that he had created a serum which would allow anyone's mind to instantly absorb knowledge. Masters knew that the Nazi's hidden fortress would soon be destroyed and the serum with it, so he injected himself gaining photo-reflexive memories, but sacrificing his long-term memories. A sense of unknown guilt and an inability to remember who he was in a former life, Master convinced himself that he was a villain. Masters is commanded by a covert group known as the Org, a front organization for the anti-terrorist law-enforcement agency S.H.I.E.L.D. Even Masters is unaware that he is a covert S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, receiving his orders to train minions of different terrorist groups, he then reports what he learns about these groups to the Org, unaware that he is S.H.I.E.L.D.'s most undercover agent, the Taskmaster. |
