| Origin | |
| Zebidiah Killgrave was an
espionage agent assigned to steal a sample of an experimental nerve gas from
a military base. Confronted by a guard, Killgrave was fired upon and
the bullet struck a canister of the compressed gas. Bathed in the
liquid form of the nerve agent, the spy's skin was indelibly dyed purple. During interrogation, Killgrave offered an inadequate alibi, but to his surprise he was believed and released. After several more incidents of having people accept implausible stories, Killgrave had verification of his abilities. With the power to command people to do his bidding without question or concern to their own safety Killgrave embarked on a criminal career as the Purple Man. |
