| Origin | |
| In the early 21st Century
of an alternate reality,
Sentinel robots have taken control of the United States to carry out
their programming to eliminate the alleged menace posed by mutants,
succeeding in either killing or imprisoning all known superhumans - mutant
or not. When the X-Men, Katherine Pryde (Ariel) and Rachael Summers (Phoenix) attempted to sabotage the Nimrod Project facilities, they were pursued and trapped in a laboratory. Activating a post-hypnotic suggestion, Pryde compelled Summers to travel back in time to an era before the Sentinels ruled - but instead of her own past Summers traveled back to a reality not her own. Intent upon destroying the threat posed by Summers, the Sentinels sent their most powerful creation back in time - the mutant hunter known as Nimrod. |
