Origin
A sculptor at a wax museum and amateur scientist who suffered from delusions of grander, Zoltan Drago attempted to create a chemical compound to bring his wax figures to life forming an army of slaves.  Failing in his first goal, Drago inadvertently created a compound which instilled fear in those who came into contact with it.  Creating a way to administer his fear gas and fashioning a frightening costume, Drago became the menacing Mr. Fear.

After Drago was captured by Daredevil, imprisoned and served his sentences, he was force at gunpoint by Samuel "Starr" Saxon to reveal the location of his Mr. Fear equipment before shooting him dead.  Saxon's short career as Mr. Fear ended in him plunging to his death from his airship.  Unknown to Saxon at the time of his murder of Drago, the incident was overheard by Larry Cranston, a one-time law school classmate of Matt Murdock who suspected his identity as Daredevil.  Using his skills as a lawyer, Cranston obtained a court order, under the guise of a Saxon' relative, to get custody of the Mr. Fear equipment.  Cranston plotted for years until he eventually struck at Murdock and Daredevil as Mr. Fear - a plot which also lead to his death.

After Cranston's demise his nephew Alan Fagan obtained the criminal's equipment to initiate his plot as the latest Mr. Fear.
