| Origin | |
| An industrialist who specialized in weapons development, design and manufacturing for the United States government, Bruno Horgan lost his contracts to Stark Industries after an inspection revealed that he was using inferior materials. As one of his factories was being dismantled Horgan noticed that one of his poorly-constructed experimental radar devices had begun to malfunction, casting a beam of light which instantly began to melt any iron component it shined upon. Analyzing the device in his private laboratory, Horgan discovered the underlying cause of the malfunction. Redesigning the radar emitter into a more compact size he strapped the weapon to his chest and struck the factories of Stark International as the Melter. |
