Luisa Van Horn was a champion skier from East Europe. Competing in
the Winter Olympics, Van Horn overheard a male rival denigrate women
athletes. She challenged the chauvinist to a race that night, but in
the course of the competition he abruptly cut her off as they skied down
the mountain. In the resultant fall, her competitor was killed and
Van Horn was crippled. Nearly driven insane with
bitterness and anger, Van Horn's plight was noticed by agents of the
subversive scientific organization called Advanced Idea Mechanics
(A.I.M.), who was financing a militant feminist group.
Recruiting Van Horn, the
organization funded her lengthy rehabilitation process and equipped her
with a powerful exoskeleton that granted mobility and superhuman
strength. Focusing her anger against all men, Van Horn became the
criminal assassin known as Man-Killer. |
