| Origin | |
| Suffering
from mental illness, Melvin Potter believed himself a Roman Gladiator and
sought battle with superheroes, who he had become convinced derived their
abilities from their costumes. Using his considerable skills as a costumer, Potter spent years devising an armor armed with rotating blades on his wrist. His first target was Franklin Nelson, law partner of Matt Murdock (Daredevil), who in a foolish attempt to impress the woman he loved Karen Page, Nelson hired the costumer to mock battle while Nelson was dressed as Daredevil. Fortunately for Nelson the real Daredevil intervened and defeated the Potter. In time Potter would become even more mentally unstable and begin to hire himself as an assassin often killing for the challenge and glory of being a Gladiator. |
