Origin
Originating from an old-money family that made their fortune in cotton, rum and slavery, Donald Pierce was able to easily buy his way into the Hellfire Club.  After an altercation with the mutant known as Cable, cost Pierce his arms and legs he had the first cybernetic components installed on his body.  Soon thereafter he was invited by the Black King of the Inner Circle to join in their quest for world domination as the White Bishop.

When a conflict between the Hellfire Club and the X-Men lead to Pierce's body being further damaged he escaped to nurture a grudge against both teams.  Attempting to wrest control of the Hellfire Club away form Shaw, Pierce was sent into exile where he would come into contact with a group of Hellfire foot-soldiers who had been severely injured by Wolverine.  Offering his cybernetic skills, Pierce turned the once ordinary men into the Reavers.
