| Origin | |
| Fred J. Dukes' mutation
manifest in a massive weight gain when he reached puberty. Thinking
himself as nothing more than "an extra-strong freak," Dukes joined a
traveling carnival. It was at the carnival that the
X-Men in their civilian
identities approached Dukes to join their cause. Attracted to
Jean Grey he immediately
accepted the offer. Meeting with
Professor Xavier at his New
York
school, Dukes refused
membership in the X-Men - necessitating that Professor X erase his knowledge
of the team. Escaping the X-Men with the knowledge of the nature of his powers, Dukes returned to the carnival - believing himself superior to normal humans. Assuming control of the carnival Dukes decided to assault the X-Men and loot their mansion of its weapons and technology in a quest to rule over others as the Blob. |
