Regularly Appearing
Masters of the Universe Vol. 1, 2 & 3
First Appearance
DC Comics Presents #47 (July, 1982)

Note: Initially a line of action-figures produced by Mattel, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe was spun-off into print and television media as a means of advertising.

Recognizing the popularity of their animated television commercials, produced by Filmation, Mattel ordered a first season of 65 episodes, which aired in the United States in 1983.  The cartoon would air 103 original episodes until 1985, and spin-off into two new future He-Man cartoons, and She-Ra: Princess of Power, a show more targeted towards girls.

He-Man was introduced in comics through a team up with Superman in DC Comics Presents, and a three issue limited-series was produced by DC in 1982.  Marvel Comics produced a twelve issue run under its Star line of comics, targeted at younger readers in 1986.  Image Comics began publishing a new line of Masters of the Universe comics in 2003.

Origin
Chief scientist of a shuttle mission to Jupiter's moon Europa, Dr. T. E. Scope felt persecuted for not being immediately accepted for the mission, believing that others resented him for his genius.

While in flight to Europa, the shuttle was transported through a space-warp caused by the shockwave created in the explosion on the planet of Infinita millennia ago.

When the shuttle appeared above the skies of Eternia, Captain Marlena Glenn discovered that her crew was now missing.  Crash landing on the planet she was rescued by her future husband, King Randor.

Waking on the surface of the planet, Scope's persecuted and mean nature combined with the evil magic of the planet mutating him into a man with three eyes who would be able to always keep a lookout for his enemies both real and imagined as the Tri-Klops.
