| Born into a family of wealth and privilege Victor Zsasz was deeply affected by the death of his beloved parents in a boating accident. Gambling away his fortune he decides that life is fruitless and pursues a reckless path to destruction. Attempting suicide by hanging himself from Gotham Bridge he is threatened by a knife-wielding mugger. Instinctively taking the knife Zsasz realizes that he can relieve the would-be mugger of his pointless existence and find purpose for himself by liberating all humans of their useless lives. Realizing his godlike power over life and death, Zsasz reminds himself of his humanity and keeps tally of every victim by scaring his own flesh. |
