Action Comics Superman Vol. 1 & 2 |
|
| First Appearance | |
| Action Comics #51 (Aug. 1942) | |
| Creator | |
| Jerry Siegel & John Sikela | |
| Origin | |
| Neither
very strong nor adept in hand-to-hand combat, Oswald Loomis had to use his
wits to survive life as a criminal. Originally a behind the scenes player he decided it was time to go for the big score. Devising a plan, he held a series of mock holdups in which he gave money to bankers - hardly a crime. The goal of his ploy was to trick a banker into opening the vault, which he would then loot. Superman stopped the crime spree, but Loomis escaped, or so he thought. The Man of Steel switched the contents of the larcenous funny man's cash-sack with worthless blank paper. Undaunted, Loomis returned again and again to perform new mischief with some outlandish scheme as the Prankster. |
