| Origin | |
| As a member of the criminal gang the T.N.T. Trio, Nathaniel Tryon was
injured in the process of wrecking a nuclear reactor for
Lex
Luthor. Saving the reactor from meltdown and arresting Tryon's compatriots, Superman was unable to see the injured criminal through the reactor's lead shielding. Although injured and poisoned by radiation, Tryon evaded capture escaping to one of Luthor's hidden layers. Claming an attempt to cure the dying criminal, Luthor exposed him to an unknown radiation, which was in fact a ploy to create a super-powered criminal employee. When Luthor was incarcerated by Superman, Tryon was left to be exposed to the unknown radiation for over a year. When Tryon escaped his incidental imprisonment he sought revenge against his former partners in crime and Superman as the living bomb blast, Neutron. |
