Origin
A small time criminal doing time, Samuel Scudder worked in a prison mirror factory. While creating a small mirror Scudder unknowingly used a strange combination of chemicals which gave the mirror wondrous properties. Although ordered to destroy the apparently defective mirror Scudder kept and studied its properties. Years after release from prison, Scudder used his study of the strange mirror to become the criminal known as the Mirror Master. After Scudder died during the Crisis on Infinite Earths his criminal identity was adopted for a short time by Captain Boomerang who used it to commit crimes while simultaneously serving with the government taskforce known as the Suicide Squad. After Captain Boomerang's aborted criminal career as the Mirror Master, the government would confiscate the costume and vast array of mirrored gadgets and weapons. Agents of the United States Government hired the assassin Evan McCulloch to don the costume and assault the activist known as Animal Man. McCulloch would eventually tire of government service and banished his handlers to another dimension. Using his new skills and array of weapons he continued the tradition of menacing the Flash as the criminal Mirror Master.
