Based purely upon his own claims James Craddock was a notorious highwayman who terrorized the English countryside during the early 19th Century.  Eventually captured and hanged for his crimes, Craddock swore an oath on the gallows he would live forever.  If his oath is to be believed he continues his life of crime as the Gentleman Ghost.
