Supreme commander of Krypton's military, General Dru-Zod
became obsessed with the security of the planet at the expense of all civil
liberties. After a failed attempt to gain ultimate control over the
planet, General Zod was imprisoned within a dimensional prison known as the
Phantom Zone, discovered by the scientist
Jor-El
who would later send his son Kal-El to Earth before the death of
Krypton. From within the Phantom Zone prisoners can see the living world, but not communicate or interact with it, and in time Zod and his cohorts Ursa and Non would engineer their escape. Their home planet now destroyed, Zod attempts to conquer Earth the adopted home of the son of their one-time adversary, Jor-El, the hero known as Superman. |
