Decades ago oilman Earl Dukeston was caught in an
oilfield explosion. By all rights he should have perished but was
given a second chance at life when his brain was apparently transferred
to a robotic body. The scientists that performed the operation
claimed they were generating a cloned body to serve as a vessel for
Dukeston's brain, but the clone would require decades to mature.
In the interim Dukeston was obliged to fulfill the edicts of the
scientists as payment for their services.
After a confrontation with the original Outsiders Dukeston learns that he is nothing more than a robot programmed with his life's memories - doomed forever to be known as the Duke of Oil. |
