Teased by his classmates because of his diminutive stature and unusually large head, Edgar Cizko grew embittered - especially towards women who he both desired and reviled.

While studying medicine Cizko fell in love with a young woman named Marva, who regarded him merely as a friend.  Cizko hypnotized Marva into loving him and then later discovered he could use her as a medium through which he could draw ectoplasm from an extra-dimensional source. Perfecting this this new found skill, Cizko was able to craft ectoplasm into any form he desired to use in his vendetta against women as Dr. Psycho.
