Origin
Born of a French father and a Vietnamese mother, Jade Nguyen was separated form her parents at a young age.  Wandering Asia for many years she was caught and sold into slavery.

Killing and escaping her owner, Nguyen was found by a former Chinese soldier named Wen Ch'ang.  Forming a loose alliance Nguyen and Ch'ang earned money as mercenaries.

At sixteen, Nguyen married Kruen Musenda, an African assassin known as the "Spitting Cobra" - a man notorious for killing his victims with an exotic variety of poisons.  After Musenda's death Nguyen returned to Ch'ang's side assuming the name Cheshire.
