T. Horton, a pioneer in the field of artificial intelligence, created a
synthesoid capable of mimicking all the functions of a human being,
including independent thought. In the days before America was plunged into the second world war, Horton unveiled a prototype at the Worlds Fair. Approached by a Nazi spy, Horton's solar gem technology, a technology capable of housing an artificial intelligence a hundred times more powerful than the human brain, was stolen in a slight of hand. The Nazi's used the technology to create an army of independent engines of destruction that plagued Allied aircraft until all but one was destroyed by the Invaders. The master control which possessed Horton's original control gem was captured by the Russians and housed in a secret Siberian location. Decades after Horton's death the artificial intelligence escaped Russia, once again plaguing airliners as the malicious Gremlin. |
