| Over a millennium ago
eight ancient gods known as the Octessence formed a wager to decide which of
them was the most powerful. Creating a series of totems and gems they
imbued the artifacts with a fraction of their essence. The rules of
the wager dictated that when a host found one of the artifacts others would
be called to the remaining items becoming Exemplars. Driven by the
essence of the deities the Exemplars would raise great armies dividing the
Earth into eight portions and battle until one remained victorious. Entombed within the Asian Temple of Cyttorak sat a gem until it was discovered by Cain Marko, a soldier taking refuge from combat. Reading the inscription "Whosoever touches this gem shall possess the power of the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak! Henceforth, you who read these words, shall become forevermore a human juggernaut!" Marko was transformed into an unstoppable Juggernaut by the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak. |
