| Origin | |
| American
metallurgist Dr. Myron MacLain was contracted by the U.S. Government to
develop a new alloy for tank production during World War II.
MacLain's first experiments resulted in combining the exotic metal
Wakandan Vibranium with a steel alloy which he shaped into the form of a
disk, but he was unable to replicate the process. He turned his
experiment over to the military which gave it to
Captain
America to use as his
shield. After the war Dr. MacLain continued his experiments eventually achieving success in creating an even more resilient alloy which he dubbed Adamantium. |
