X-Force was originally a team of mutants in training known unofficially as the New Mutants. With the guidance of the freedom fighter Cable, the former charges of Professor Charles Xavier matured into a fighting team to be reckoned with. Disillusioned with the results of their predecessors they adopted a proactive philosophy against mutant terrorist, "Get them before they have a change to get you."
