Origin
Centuries into the past, divine and evil spirits passed the knowledge of all mysticism in a book known as the Zhered-Na to Illyana Kale the ancient ancestor of Jennifer Kale. Angered at having their most guarded secrets revealed to humanity the gods cast a spell creating a demonic guardian known as the Hellphyr, capable of destroying every mystic in the universe. When the tome of ancient and forbidden magic was opened the Hellphyr was released. Aware of the impending danger, Earth's Sorcerer Supreme, Dr. Strange brought together three witches of differing mystical aspects and personalities to return the demon to its former prison. The prophecy mandated that a descendent of Illyana Kale retrieve the tome of magic accompanied by a representative of the damned and the divine. Strange's first recruit is his apprentice the mystic empath Topaz who is capable of draining evil from the souls of other beings. His second recruit the practitioner of Atlantian White Magic, Jennifer Kale, who's ancestors once possessed the Zhered-Na. Lastly Strange resurrected Satana the succubus and daughter of the lord of Hell, Mephisto.
