| Hailing
from an extra-dimensional reality the catalyst for the origin of the Squadron
Supreme is not known, but they hail from a tradition of superhumans
devoted to peace and security going back to World War II with a group
known as the Golden Agency. The Squadron first came into contact with the Avengers when Quicksilver, the Scarlet Witch, Vision, and Goliath II unknowing became lost while returning from Polemachus, the dimensional world of Arkon, to their own Earth. Believing Earth-S to be their own Earth the Avengers went to what they believed to be Avengers Mansion finding who they believed to be the Squadron Sinister, a group of villains gathered on their own Earth by the galactic elder known as the Grandmaster. After the misunderstanding was resolved the Avengers returned to their native dimension. Over time the Squadron Supreme and Avengers, as well as the Defenders, would meet on several occasions. After tumultuous times on Earth-S which lead to many hardships for the Squadron Supreme, the remaining members would become trapped on Earth for a time after repelling the threat of the Nth Man. Eventually the majority of the Squadron would return to their own dimension with the assistance of the Avengers. |
