| Origin | |
| The Heroes of Hire
partnership began with the original hero for hire,
Power
Man and the martial-arts master
Iron Fist
- who worked together for a number of years. After the dissolution of the original Heroes for Hire, Iron Fist later reformed and expanded the venture in the wake of the disappearance of many heroes following the defeat of the creature called Onslaught. This venture would also eventually fail due to corporate interference. After the tragic events involving a clash between superhuman heroes and villains which lead to the deaths of hundreds in Stamford, Connecticut the federal government required all superhumans to register as federal agents. Between members of the superhero community there were two camps; one pro-registration and concerned with public safety and order lead by Iron Man the other camp concerned with civil liberties lead by Captain America, and then there was the third group caught in the middle represented by the Heroes for Hire. |
