| The
Doom Patrol were a
group of misfit heroes was originally recruited by
Dr. Niles Caulder to defeat menaces to society. The team sacrificed their lives to prevent the deaths of the citizens of Codville, Maine at the hands of the Nazi, Captain Zahl. The sole survivor Robotman later joined the widow of Dr. Niles, Arani Caulder (Celsius) in forming another Doom Patrol, which operated for a number of years. Another short-lived team was organized by multi-billionaire Thayer Jost who purchased the rights to use the "Doom Patrol" name and hired Robotman as a consultant and team leader. The original team was formed and, with the exception of Robotman, perished before the cataclysmic Crisis on Infinite Earths. The latest team consist of the original members and a group of superpowered teens that were slaves of the vampire Crucifer. Apparently the original team were resurrected by a twist in the space-time continuum. |
