| The ancient
peoples of Germany and Scandinavia had a tradition of reverence for what
they called guardian or "warden" trees, which were believed to bestow luck
and watch over human souls. From this tradition was likely born the belief that the nine worlds of reality were bound together by a great Ash tree which grew through the universe called Yggdrasil. |
