DC
Comics Presents #47 (July,
1982) Note: Initially a line of action-figures produced by Mattel, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe was spun-off into print and television media as a means of advertising. Recognizing the popularity of their animated television commercials, produced by Filmation, Mattel ordered a first season of 65 episodes, which aired in the United States in 1983. The cartoon would air 103 original episodes until 1985, and spin-off into two new future He-Man cartoons, and She-Ra: Princess of Power, a show more targeted towards girls. He-Man was introduced in comics through a team up with Superman in DC Comics Presents, and a three issue limited-series was produced by DC in 1982. Marvel Comics produced a twelve issue run under its Star line of comics, targeted at younger readers in 1986. Image Comics began publishing a new line of Masters of the Universe comics in 2003. |

| Origin | |
| In a
distant galaxy two worlds existed in polar opposites of their sun,
Infinita and Eternia. Infinita possessed the sum total of the galaxy's evil and became scorched and polluted from countless conflicts. Eternia nurtured and gave life to good and kind beings that use magic to create harmony. On the planet Infinita the final armageddon occurred when opposing forces simultaneously unleashed their doomsday weapons which opened a space-warp to Eternia. Surviving warlords of Infinita were transported to Eternia and vowed conquest. Infiltrating the Halls of Wisdom the warlords of Infinita planned their takeover with troops arriving through the space portal. Driving back the forces of Infinita, the Council of Elders sealed the portal, but realized it would not stay sealed forever. Sacrificing their physical forms, the council transformed the Hall of Wisdom into a repository of strength to empower a champion to challenge the forces of evil. To ensure the hall would not be found and ward off evil, the Hall of Wisdom was disguised into a demonic edifice becoming Castle Grayskull. |
