| Origin | |
| Before
the dawn of human history, circumstances have brought about the creation
of plant elementals on Earth such as the Swamp Thing. Each elemental
was created from a human that died in the flames of a forest of
swamp. Rising from the embers and mire is an inhuman plant elemental
bearing a consciousness patterned after the dead. When each plant elemental, known as an Erl-King, grows weary of an active existence it seeks escape from the distractions of the world. The plant elementals take root in a Brazilian grove near the source of the river Tefe. Forming into trees, the elementals abandon the power of speech, instead mentally communicate among themselves as a Parliament of Trees. |
