| Origin | |
| In the pre-historic age of
an alternate reality an un-named man battled a demon that had taken the form
of a green bear. Killing the demon bear a curse was transferred to the
man, which caused him to become an outcast amongst those he sought to
protect. Now immortal and hideously deformed by decay the man lived for millennium replacing his body parts as he needed from the freshly deceased. Often adopting names to reflect the reactions others had towards him he adopted the name "Shreck" - taken from the German phrase scare fright. Eventually Shreck came into the service of a medieval knight, an ageless shadow being in the form of a human known as Draghignazzo. After Draghignazzo was severely wounded in combat, Shreck buried his mentor to allow him peaceful centuries to heal. Eventually becoming a knight, Shreck battled alongside his one true love - eventually departed via death. Always wishing to be near her, Shreck grafted her hand onto himself, sealing it within a metal gauntlet to stave off the forces of decay. Over the centuries Shreck became more cynical towards the world becoming an assassin for the Ravenscore crime family. It was while an assassin that Shreck came into conflict with the modern knight known as St. George. It was during combat with St. George that Shreck faced his greatest defeat, but the immortal curse which held him would not allow death. Some time later, Shreck would travel from his dimension to that of Earth-616, taking up the occupation of the anti-hero assassin known as Terror. |
