Origin
The daughter of Sean Cassidy (Banshee) and Maeve Rourke, Theresa Rourke was born while her father was undercover for an extended period of time as an Interpol agent and he had no knowledge of her existence.  Along with many other innocent bystanders, Maeve Rourke was killed by an Irish Republican Army bomb, but the infant Theresa survived.  The child was found by Sean Cassidy's cousin "Black Tom" Cassidy and she was raised with her father having no knowledge of her ever existing.  Relatives that knew of her birth kept it to themselves to further spare Cassidy who was already grieving the death of his wife.

After Theresa Rourke's mutation surfaced her "Uncle" Tom persuaded her to join him and the Juggernaut in a life of crime, as Siryn.  Defeated by Spider-Woman and the X-Men, Black Tom exonerated his young cousin of responsibility in his crimes.  She was brought back to the X-Men's headquarters where she met her father for the first time.
