radiation induced mutation resulting in an ability to transform into a
form with superhuman strength, speed, stamina, agility and durability;
possessing an immunity to all known terrestrial diseases. Unlike her cousin Bruce Banner (Hulk II), Walters does not suffer from fits of uncontrolled rage and diminished intelligence while transformed. Initially the transformation was triggered by stress. In time Walters was able to control the transformation at will, but often chose to remain transformed. Note: Mystical enchantment by the Scarlet Witch prevents anyone who would wish to harm She-Hulk from visually perceiving Jennifer Walters while she is in her normal human form. |

| Origin | |
| Shortly
after a transformation into the
Hulk,
Dr. Bruce Banner was seeking refuge with Jennifer Walters, his cousin in
Los Angeles. At the time Walters was defending a petty criminal, who was being framed by the local mob leader. After driving home from her law office, Walters was ambushed by members of the Los Angeles mafia, suffering a serious gunshot wound and was losing blood. Banner fought off and fled the hit-men, rushing his cousin to a local doctor's office, only to find it closed for the day. Breaking in, Banner performed a hasty surgery and a blood transfusion to save Walters' life. After Banner called the authorities, he was detained for questioning, but the stress of capture triggered his transformation and he escaped from lockup. While Walters was recovering in the hospital, the mob made another attempt on her life, but to their and her surprise she transformed into the Savage She-Hulk. |
