member of the
X.S.E. squad in the later part of the 21st century, Shard
progressed early to the rank of Squad Commander. Soon after taking command of her squad, Shard was killed and her conscious was programmed into a holographic matrix projector worn by her brother Bishop. Bishop traveled to the current time in pursuit of the criminal Fitzroy. When he joined the X-Men, Bishop programmed the matrix into the Cerebro computer system, and Shard although still contained within the matrix projector, was able to project anywhere in the Xavier mansion a holographic projector existed. When Bishop's matrix projector was damaged by Mountjoy, he enlisted the assistance of Forge in repairing the device. The device was later stolen by Professor Stephens, who was working for the organization Humanity's Last Stand and their leader, Bastion. Stephens contained Shard within a containment chamber in an effort to control her. During the assault on Stephen's lab Shard destroyed the containment chamber, seemingly destroying herself, but the energy in the container and the projector reacted creating a photon entity containing her conscious. |
