Centuries ago, the Strontian race swore
loyalty to the Shi'ar Emperor when it cured their home planet of the deadly
Wraith plague. Seeking recruits for the Imperial Guard, Shi'ar emperor
T'korr sought members of the Strontian military elite tasked with protecting
the planet from the Phoenix Force. To test the loyalty of the young
Strontian candidates he instructed them to slay their Council of Elders.
Knowing that Emperor T'korr would destroy the Strontian sun, candidate
Kallark killed the council and solidified his position as commander of the Shi'ar
Imperial Guard, an
army of super-powerful beings from planets within the Shi'ar Galaxy. Kallark has on several occasions appeared to be a villain to Earth by coming into contact with the planets protectors, but is ultimately loyal to only the leader of the Shi'ar Empire, and without question enforces the will of its leader as their Gladiator. |
