| Origin | |
| The
eldest of two sons of U. S. Air Force Major Christopher Summers, Scott
Summers and
his brother Alex were separated from their parents when they were pushed
with the only available parachute from their father's private plane by
their mother, after the plane was attacked by a scout ship of the alien
Shi'ar Empire. Summers suffered a head injury from the rough landing and remained comatose for a year. The resulting brain damage caused by his fall prevent him from being able to control his mutant power to create force blast from his eyes. Separated after the accident, his brother Alex was adopted, and Summers was placed in an Omaha, Nebraska orphanage after recovering from his injuries. As he matured he began to suffer severe headaches and eyestrain. Diagnosed by an eye specialist it was discovered that eyeglasses with ruby quartz lenses corrected his vision problems, it was soon afterward that he developed his mutant power causing a major accident involving a construction crane. Although saving the crowd below from his accident by atomizing the crane, the crowd turned on him thinking his accident had been an intentional attempt on their lives. Frightened and on the run, Summers became unwillingly associated with the mutant criminal known as Jack O'Diamonds (Living Diamond). Professor Charles Xavier with the assistance of F.B.I. agent Fred Duncan rescued Summers from Jack O'Dianonds, enlisting him as the first member of his team of young mutants as Cyclops. |
