| Origin | |
| In
1968, astrophysicist Jonathan Kent made a startling discovery: within
nine months, the Earth will be destroyed by a giant meteor. The
timing of the disaster even more tragic when he learns his wife Martha is pregnant with a child who will be born scant days
before the end of the world. Unable to convince anyone of the impending
danger, Kent completes a primitive
rocket that will take his infant son to another world: a distant planet
called
Krypton. The boy is discovered, adopted and named Kal by the scientist Jor-El, who builds a null-gravity chamber and later a robotic exoskeleton to allow his son to compensate for the planet's heavier force of gravity. As he grows older Kal-El devotes himself to exploring his adopted planet's long-neglected history, and discovers the body of a Green Lantern Corp's member. Taking the Green Lantern ring and lantern he is deemed worth of the power - a power allowing him to save his adopted planet from a geological disaster rooted in the sins of its past and his home planet Earth from the chaos into which it was plunged, as Superman. |
