| Origin | |
| Courtney Whitmore was a
happy-go-lucky teen and one of the most popular girls in her Beverly
Hills, California high school, until her mother started dating Pat Dugan,
a giant of a man and a former adventurer known as Stripesy. Courtney
disliked him from the start and her dislike only grew when Dugan and her
mother decided to move to the small town of Blue Valley, Nebraska. One day, while sneaking through Dugan's stuff, she found an old box of memorabilia. From the box's contents she learned that Dugan was Stripesy, the sidekick of the Justice Society member Star-Spangled Kid. She also found the original Star Spangled Kid's Cosmic Converter Belt. Devising a new way to make Dugan angry she became the latest Star-Spangled Kid. Wanting to protect his step-daughter and dissuade her from being a hero, Dugan built a suit of mechanized armor. Posing as a robot he secretly joined Whitmore as her sidekick, re-creating the team of Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. |
