| Origin | |
| In the early 20th Century
the archeologist Richard Sargent discovered a large ruby in the ruins of an
Aztec temple in Mexico. The ruby was in fact the ancient and powerful
Ruby of Life, which was capable of granting great powers. Sargent presented the ruby in a necklace to his future wife. When the couple's son John was born he touched the gem while still and infant, which mystically linked him to the Ruby of Life. Years later Sargent accompanied his father on an archeological expedition to the Temple of Asyreth, which originally held the gem. Reading ancient inscriptions he learned of the ruby's true power which Sargent used to become the mystical Sargon the Sorcerer. After the apparent death of John Sargent two demonic beings tracked down the drifter David Sargent, John Sargent's grandson and sole heir. The demons desired the Ruby of Life, and tricked David Sargent into signing over his grandfather's estate in hopes of countering its protective spells and finding the mystic gem. With the aid of the Helmet of Fate, Sargent escaped the demons and made his way to the attic, where the spirit of his grandfather granted him the powers to become the next Sargon the Sorcerer. |
