but his brain destroyed by fire in a racing car accident, Cliff Steele
found life again in the body of a robotic construct created by Dr. Niles
Caulder (The
Chief). When his body began to malfunction from a loose wire connected to Steele's brain, he became criminally insane. Enraged by his life as a living robot, Steele vowed to revenge himself on the surgeon that had performed the operation. On a destructive rampage Steele was hunted by both the authorities and Dr. Caulder. When Caulder was confronted by Steele, he promised to cure his rage and convinced him to use his abilities to fight menaces to humanity alongside his team the Doom Patrol as Robotman. |
