Paul Kirk learned of the mysterious
Manhunters
organization in his travels and patterned his costume from their design. Kirk was encouraged to become a bounty hunter by a police inspector, who Kirk would later avenge after his death at the hands of the criminal known as the Buzzard. After the second world war, Kirk would retire from crime fighting and return to big game hunting in Africa. While on a hunt he was charged by a bull elephant which left him near death. Kirk's body retrieved by the criminal organization known as the Council, he was placed in suspended animation and genetically altered so that virtually any injury he suffered would heal rapidly. Revived Kirk was trained in the martial arts and given leadership of an enforcement division whose members were cloned from Kirk's cells. Kirk discovered the Council's true intent when he was ordered to assassinate an Interpol officer as a test of loyalty. Along with Interpol officers and Batman, Kirk destroyed the Council at the cost of his life. Kirk DePaul is apparently a clone of Paul Kirk and battles crime today in the guise of the Manhunter. |
