Constantine is the unwilling heir to an ancestral line of sorcerers
spanning back to King Kon-Stan-Tyn, who was sought by Merlin to be heir to
the legendary King Arthur. Kon-Stan-Tyn grew more powerful in his sorcerer abilities betrayed and murdered Merlin. Sustaining his life by sacrificing his sons to dark forces, one of which was born of a supernatural being, eventually the sorcerer king would fall victim to the same dark forces that served him. John Constantine hopes to be the last burdened with the mystical powers he considers a curse. Feared and hated by both the forces of Heaven and Hell, Constantine is forced to use abilities that have been both a danger to himself as well as his friends and foes, unwillingly burning a path of destruction as the Hellblazer. |
