Normal human with Green Lantern Ring enhanced abilities granting the wielder
the ability to create forms and
devices of green energy from their imagination, transmute materials, phase
through solid objects, become invisible, fly at supersonic speeds; achieve
superhuman
strength, speed, stamina, durability, immunity to harsh environments.
Note: Scott's abilities were originally derived from a power ring created from a portion of a railroad lantern forged from a portion of the sentient mystical orb known as the Starheart. Due to a merging with the life force of the corrupt Green Lantern, Yalan Gur and the portion of the Starheart, the power ring's power was vulnerable to objects made of wood. Yalan Gur was the Green Lantern of Space Sector 2814 over 2000 years in the past. When he lost a battle with a yellow beast, the Guardians of the Universe removed his rings yellow vulnerability rather than risk losing their best Green Lantern. Corrupted by his power, Yalan Gur conquered ancient China. The Guardians were forced to instill a new weakness in his ring making him vulnerable to the wooden weapons of the peasants. |

| Origin | |
| The sole survivor of a
horrific train crash caused by sabotage, railroad engineer Alan Scott was
spoken to by an ethereal voice coming from his railroad lantern,
"Three times shall I flame. First to bring death, second to bring
life and third to bring power!" The green flame fulfilled the
prophecy saving the fleeting life of Scott.
In actuality the railroad lantern was forged from a portion of an orb known as the Starheart, that was used by the Guardians of the Universe to contain stray mystical energy after a war against the necromantic forces of the cosmos. Over the eons the Starheart gained strength and became self-aware. In a bid to fulfill a greater destiny, the orb sent a portion of itself into space, which in time gathered debris to resemble a meteor. Forging a ring from a malleable portion of the lantern, Scott vowed to bring justice to the world as the Green Lantern. |
