Jockey, Andrew Jones was severely injured in a horse racing accident which permanently paralyzed him. Destitute, he accepted an offer from the Atlas Corporation to undergo genetic experiments. Discovering he as genetically merged with the DNA of a horse with the express purpose of using his abilities to commit crimes, Jones escaped. Andrea Martinez lived a life of misery due to an unhappy marriage forced upon her by her parents who refused to accept their daughters homosexuality. Turing to reckless and self destructive behavior as an outlet for her sadness, Martinez became a extreme adventurer. While attempting a solo climb of Mount Everest, Martinez had an accident and lay near death when discovered by Andrew Jones. The two were buried under an avalanche and died, merging into an Earth-born angel of love capable of switching identities between the female form of Andrea and the super-human male form of Andrew who goes by the identity of Comet.
