What Happened
David Haller the son of Professor Charles Xavier and also a powerful psionic mutant known as Legion traveled back into time to kill his father's greatest nemesis Magneto before the men would become enemies. Xavier attempted to save his friend and lost his life thus ironically erasing Haller's existence. Xavier's sacrifice convinced Magneto of his friend's dream of mutants and humans coexisting in harmony and he eventually formed the X-Men in his quest of this dream. Before Magneto could fulfill his quest of a human and mutant utopia the ancient mutant known as Apocalypse initiated a genetic war to fulfill his quest to create a world where on the strong survive. Bishop traveled back in time to prevent this version of the future from ever occurring and many other mutants took refuge in other timelines and realities before a final nuclear holocaust destroyed the Earth.
