Pre-Crisis The Manhawks waged a battle for centuries with the reptilian Lizarkons on the neighboring planet of Aptilia - until the resources of the giant alien hawks were depleted and their planet decimated. The few remaining survivors of the Manhawks left their native solar system to become scavengers and thieves. For some inexplicable reason the alien hawks would don mask over their bird-like heads which resembled the dominant species of the planet they were plundering. The Manhawks looting of the galaxy was eventually halted by the Thangarian heroes Hawkman and Hawkwoman and evidently the strange alien species faded from history as a result of the crisis. Post-Crisis In a ploy for vengeance against Hawkman, the Golden Eagle recruited the geneticist Satana to train hatchling Manhawks to attack his enemy. |
