Before discovering the primacy of science, the inhabitants of the planet Elia are believed to have been spiritual adherents to the nihilistic religious sect known as the Dark Circle.  Their dark philosophy clouding their social outlook, the Elia used their knowledge of science to create a war-like caste society, menacing their smaller neighboring planet, destroying it entirely - the remnants continuing to rain down on Elia millennium later.

Not deterred by the irony of their fruits of war constantly raining down upon their home planet, the Elia focused their scientific efforts into manipulating their genetic structure to make themselves into perfect warriors, focusing towards the task of enslaving the universe as the Dominators.
